Artistic Selection: 35 Selected out of 130 Applicants
Candidates were mostly between 25 and 35 years representing trends of contemporary creation; 130 have presented their applications, 60 have been shortlisted, and 35 have been selected for this new edition; they all constitute promising talents.
JABAL’s artistic committee has selected artists, disregarding their expression forms (painting, photography, sculpture...) and focusing more on the subject: themselves, ourselves, the other, the man, the woman, their environment.
The figurative art dominates the creation of today, while photography has changed the testimony of the artist, but in both directions, the photographer tries to get away from realism and looks for the atmosphere of a place or a situation. The painter freezes his palette to get closer to the same effect. Both want to find a common speech, while the computer allows those who use it, on the contrary, to make their dreamful and individualist discourse.
