The ABL Board of Directors held an exceptional meeting and announced the following:
The ABL expresses its profound empathy to the Lebanese people regarding the national catastrophe resulting from the destructive explosion at the port of Beirut, and whose damages affected many Lebanese areas. It also expresses its most heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a quick recovery to the injured, welcoming all the internal and external initiatives that are helping the victims and providing shelter to the displaced persons.
Despite the damage brought to a big number of banks in the areas affected by the explosion, the branches will be opened in all Lebanese regions to meet the requirements of their clients and provide the necessary liquidity in these painful circumstances.
In addition, the ABL announces that it is considering a special mechanism to support the clients and employees of banks, whose houses, shops or institutions have been damaged due to the explosion, and that it will cooperate with the BDL (Central Bank) in order to contribute to the reconstruction of affected dwellings and institutions.
