The Secretary General of the Association of Banks in Lebanon sent the following circular to the bank members:

“Following the meeting headed by Prime Minister Hassan Diab on Tuesday 2 February 2021, during which the issue of the money transfers for Lebanese students abroad was addressed in order to contribute to the achievement of their studies and to ensure their return to their homeland, and in compliance with the relative BDL circular (Central Bank), the ABL recommends all operating banks in Lebanon the following:

First: fully commit to making money transfers to Lebanese students abroad who enrolled in universities in 2019, according to BDL circular.

Second: verify the effective enrollment of students in the universities and the tuition fees they have to pay, in order to maintain the limited resources available.”
